The Reiki Support Group in Ashford, Kent takes place on the last Wednesday of each quarter except December . We meet at 7pm at The Quaker Meeting House (Friends Meeting House) on the corner of ALbert & Canterbury Roads in Ashford town centre.

Our last meeting of 2010 will be on 24 November 2020 when Susan Ricketts will give an interesting talk on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and her forthcoming course. The rest of the evening will allow time for members to exchange Reiki treatments and experiences.

In September Frank Janes came along to talk about Buddhism and led a guided meditation, which proved to be of great interest of all who attended

Our Speaker in June was Nina - a Yoga teacher whose talk included information on the five layers of the body, explaining Yoga Philosophy - The Pranic Bodies (Koshas) and how yoga works holistically to nurture them.

She also gave us a short guided meditation, before our usual swapping of Reiki treatments with one another. The members who attended found Nina's talk a fascinating presentation and are keen to hear more about Nina's proposed Yoga classes starting in the autumn.

Reiki attuned people and Anyone who is considering finding out more about Reiki before committing themselves to learning may also attend but please email me first for further information by clicking here

We have had interesting speakers at the last few meetings and then swapped treatments afterwards. Janice from Juice Plus gave an interesting talk in November, Pauline Beer gave us information about her involvement with 'life coaching' which involves many different aspects of her work in helping people to overcome problems of whatever kind life has thrown at them! Jon Weekes gave an interesting workshop on Shamanic techniqes and using chakras in Reiki.

I am pleased to report that Distant Healing sent last year at the November meeting has already brought about positive results. Healing done over past months has also resulted in two very sick animals also responding very well, not to mention its positive results on many people treated.

Last year we supported the local Chernobyl Children's Charity, which brings children affected by the fallout from the Chernobyl disaster that happened over 20-years ago to Kent for respite. By making a donation to the charity, people received a voucher for a Reiki treatment at the meeting of the Reiki Group in Ashford on 25th June last year, read more.......................

On previous meetings we have treated a dog who had suffered serious health problems that were diagnosed some months before, whose owner had been treating her successully with Reiki since that time. We formed a healing circle and gave Reiki to the dog, who lay contentedly on the floor throughout the treatment. Animals are normally very receptive to Reiki and this gave a good example of an animal enjoying her treatment.

Another month one of our members brought along her small son for a treatment, which we gave as a group. It was obvious that he was able to sense the energy at the begining of the session, which we sent to him while seated on his mother's knee. By the end of the treatment he was very calm and content. This was a very interesting experience for all present and benefited not only mother and son, but all involved.

At other meetings we have practised 'Chi Washing' and energy exercises and had demonstrations of some of Usui's Traditional Japanese Reiki Methods for members to practice if they wished. We have shared ideas and experiences with one another and talked about Dr. Hayashi's Blood Cleansing technique - a follow on from a previous month's discussion on Byosen, the scanning technique used in traditional Japanese Reiki, which is a very useful tool in detecting imbalances that can then be treated before physical manifestation of 'dis-ease' occurs. One of our members has also been able to give us some interesting information on his use of crystals with reiki.

Reiki is not meant to be complicated by man-made 'rules & regulations' - we try to keep it simple and just allow the energy to flow, using ourselves as 'channels'- with some amazing results. So many myths have evolved about Reiki over the generations - do's and don'ts that have no foundation in fact - it is good to be reassured that Reiki ALWAYS works for the greatest good.

Not everyone who trains in Reiki wants to work as a professional practitioner, and the group offers them an opportunity to gain in experience by practicing the therapy on other people outside of family and friends.

We are always happy to welcome more new members to the group and we welcome anyone attuned to Reiki I or above to join us at our get-togethers at The Friends Meeting House at the corner of Albert Road & Canterbury Roads in Ashford Kent.

Evenings start at 7pm with either a short session in energy building or a guided meditation, healing circle etc. and then we have plenty of time to treat each other to Reiki and share experiences with other like-minded people. We aim to be out of the hall by 9:30pm

The next meeting is on Wednesday 24th November 2010 and costs £5 for the evening, which includes refreshments on a help-yourself basis.

Anyone who is considering finding out more about Reiki before committing themselves to learning may also attend but please email me first for further information by clicking here as numbers may sometimes be limited if you are not already attuned.

I would also like to remind anyone who has a portable couch to bring this along on the evening so that as many of us as possible will be able to receive supine treatments.

Past News

2006 was a successful year for the group and we welcomed some newly attuned members who were able to gain confidence and experience by swapping treatments with other Reiki people of all levels. Newly attuned Masters were also able to practice their attunements on others before starting out on attuning others professionally too.

Members of the public, who showed interest during during Reiki Awareness Week were given the opportunity to try Reiki free of charge at two of our summer meetings. Not only was this an opportunity for others to experience and find out more about this gentle healing therapy but it was also an opportunity for trained Reiki practitioners to gain experience in treating others.
